Spring Lane was looking immaculate last Saturday as we welcomed the Highgate Taverners back to Grantchester.
Unfortunately the GCC upper order proved to be somewhat camera shy and were back in the pavilion (or rather our new marquee) by the time I arrived. However, the last wicket pair were definitely not as they put on 50ish for the errrr…. last wicket
Chris was not to be outdone at the other end
It had to end sometime but that meant it was time for Tea!
146 seemed a decent but eminently gettable total. However, the GCC bowlers had other ideas.
and Jake in particular found some bounce
ably supported by Finn from the other end
Jake strikes…. (you’ll have to take my word for it….)
The crowd go wild…
as does first change Jamie (you’ll have to take my word for it, again…)
Chris was quick to get in on the act and found himself on a hat trick
Chris again found himself on a hat trick…..
Jake nearly pulled off a stunning catch….
but the home team pace quartet were not to be denied as GCC ended up winning by several tens of runs.
Much beer, some Rose and an excellent BBQ at HQ followed. Many thanks to Maxine and all who organised, grew and cooked!
